“Paisley Shell” B
For this collection, I freely inspired myself to paisley, timeless ornamental pattern whose origin dates back to the ancient Persia and that later evolves as a clothing decorative pattern in Kashmir, Indian region. It becomes very popular in Europe between the end of the 18th century and the beginning of the 19th century, but it is in Como, with the advent of the screen-printing technique in the textile industry during the 20th century, that paisley achieves its utmost success. The reasons of this achievement are the extraordinary competence of the designers in developing countless variations of this motif and the exceptional craftmanship of the Como textile artisans that improve the printing techniques.
Silk 100%, made in Como, hand-rolled – 40″x40″ – 55″x55″
